Base map of the Czech Republic at 1:10 000

The base map of the Czech Republic at 1 : 10 000 (ZM 10) is the basic state map series and is the mostž detailed base map of medium scale . It shows the entire territory of the Czech Republic in a seamless map layout , the Czech Republic’s territory is shown on 4533 map sheets. Dimensions and indexing of map sheets of ZM 10 are derived from the map sheet of the map sheet of the base map of the Czech Republic at 1 : 50 000, divided into 25 sections.

The ZM 10 contains planimetry, altimetry and lettering . Planimetry contains settlements and individual objects, communication networks, hydrology, administrative and cadastral boundaries (including territorial technical units), boundaries of protected areas, height and planimetric control points, vegetation and soil surface. Altimetry shows terrain relief shown as contour lines and terrain steps. Map lettering consists of object type designation, standardized toponymy of objects, standardized geographic nomenclature, contour values, height values, border information and external information. Map sheets contain planimetric net of orthogonal coordinates and geographic coordinates. Map contents are shown for the territory of the Czech Republic only. Map lettering is shown for the territory of the Czech Republic only. The level of generalization is at a level which does not allow merging of individual buildings int blocks and simplification of shapes. Thus, the map shows provides a very detailed view of the area shown.

Since 2001, the ZM 10 is produced using digital technology from the Fundamental Base of Geographic Data of the Czech Republic (ZABAGED®) and the database of geographic names of the Czech Republic Geonames. In 2006 this new form of ZM 10 has been completed for the territory of the Czech Republic and is updated further. Creation and update of the ZM 10 is facilitated by the Land Survey Office.

The ZM 10 is available for viewing using viewing services on which you can find information in the Web services section.

Viewing services can be exploited free in all applications (clients). The map window at introduction page of Application section at the CUZK Geoportal or Geoviewer client can be exploited to display them.
